I have a lot of garden tools, and I’m particularly fond of Japanese tools, so I have quite a few of those. I have never seen a tool quite like this Homi hoe before. I was hesitant to get it, because I couldn’t really determine what it was or how it was made.This tool is perfect for so many tasks, perfect for removing stubborn or rhizome-y weeds, cutting through woody roots for a new hole for planting, making nice rows for seedlings, lots of garden tasks.The head of the hoe is metal and looks hand forged. It comes with a pleather cover which is good because this sucker’s SHARP. The handle is easy to hold and thick enough to grip easily without cramping my hand. The metal shaft goes all the way through the handle, so it’s easy to get leverage on woody roots without the hoe bending.The packaging is really nice. The hoe comes in a branded cardboard box with product / company info on a card inside the box. Feels like a premium garden tool experience.If you have a gardener if your life who’s deserving of a gift, this is a great choice.I’m really impressed with this tool so far, and Toolgather is clearly a garden brand to watch.I’ve only used this for my spring cleanup and planting chores over a few days, but I think this Toolgather Homi hoe may become indispensable to me in the garden.

This product is a unique handheld garden hoe with a very sharp edge for carving out chunks of dirt quickly and easily. Unlike a regular hoe which is straight and flat on the end, this one has a sharp point that can enter even the hardest dirt very easily. The overall hook shape of the tool allows you to pull back easily, agitating a large amount of soil. You can really break up the soil better than a regular hoe. If you are starting with grass or rocky/hard soil, this is very much preferred to a regular stand up hoe.The tool itself is made with a unique asymmetrical shape that actually makes it ergonomically superior to a hoe that is completely straight on the edge. Since you are using one hand with this tool, you are not pulling straight back with most of your strength, your power is displaced a little bit sideways and this hook-shaped tool allows you to maximize that.I used this to dig up a small 5×5 plot of grass that I am turning into a garden. I had absolutely no problem with it and it actually stayed completely sharp at the end of the job. I could feel it cutting through the grass and roots without issue, and I had no resistance from Clay, rocks, or wiody roots deep in the dirt.Overall this is not only aesthetically beautiful but also very practical for a small garden. Once you are done with this tool for the season, it looks great if it is at least a little bit on display; it is too nice to throw into a drawer or tool chest! It looks like an antique. I’m very happy with this tool and although I’m almost done with it for the season, I will be looking for other jobs that it can do!

I never thought I’d get so excited about a hand tool—let alone a humble garden hoe—but the Homi hoe is truly in a class of its own. Most hoes have a straight edge, but this one comes to a sharp, precise point with a wicked curved blade. It cuts through soil like a knife, and it’s made turning over the dense, dark clay in my garden beds surprisingly easy.The blade is forged steel—tough, sharp, and I think it will last for years to come. It holds an edge well, and given how sharp it is out of the box, I’m glad it comes with a leather sheath for safe storage. The handle is a combination of chestnut and acacia wood, and it’s welded securely to the blade, not just set in or tacked on. That connection makes it feel solid and reliable, even when bearing down into heavy soil.The handle is long enough to give good leverage while standing, which is great—less crouching, more efficient digging. For care, I wipe it down after use, especially after working in damp soil, and I plan to give the blade a light coat of oil now and then to keep rust away.It’s beautifully made, incredibly functional, and honestly, a joy to use. Amazeballs!
